The Summer Leagues Green
Monster, Johnny Longstand, Big Load, The Libertines and Where Is My mind? - who will be next to
join this illustrious list of summer champions? The Summer
Leagues run from the end of July until the end of September each year and are the chance for regular teams to have a go at
hosting a quiz for themselves. In this period, there are generally ten quiz-nights, which the quizmaster takes off (but often
plays). If you are interested in hosting your own quiz, then send me using the

The summer quiz works a bit differently to the regular quiz as people go away on holiday or on home during the summer months. What we do is have a short league running through the end of July, August and September after the playoffs for the regular season have finished. Each quiz is hosted by a different team from the regular season. The Summer Leagues are decided by points average over a minimum of five quizzes, rather than by points total - and all quizzes played by a team are included (not the best five). The Green Monster won with an average of 39.67 in 2008, while Big Load needed 39.33 in 2009 - in 2010 The Libertines and Green Monster actually tied on 36.3 each and a tie-breaker was necessary!!
