Another Accumulator win - the second in two months!! Well done Where Is My Mind? who took the maximum all for themselves on January 10th. Interestingly, that's exactly one year to the day nearly since they had their only other solo Blockbuster win...

Previously, Lumberjacks took home €500 on 6th December 2011 and finally the Accumulator was won for the first time in six months. So, it could take a little while now for the Accumulator to build back up - or will someone take it down to zero for the first time in YEARS?

For those that don't know, you win the Accumulator by answering all ten questions on the Blockbuster Round correctly. What you win, is the amount above (shared out evenly, if more than one team wins).

The most recent win? Green Monster and Where Is My Mind? shared the Accumulator between then as they both hit the jackpot on 7th June 2011.

From rags to riches...

The Accumulator is the other way to win something at the Quiz. The total could be anywhere between about €20 and €500, depending on how recently it was last won.

It is a rare and celebrated event when a team wins - often the highlight of a quiz career. Of course, winning rounds are available in the old quiz section. Could you have been a winner?

And how to win it? Simple - all you have to do is answer all ten questions in the round correctly. And you get help - you are given the first letter or letters of each of the word or words in the answer. But be careful - one wrong answer and you loose all of your points in the Blockbuster Round (whether you try for the money or not).

The Way of the Accumulator

25% of the next quiz pot will be added to the total above

€500 is the maximum win for one evening

If more than one team wins, the Accumulator is split between them (maximum €500 total) The Accumulator is capped when it reaches €500 and a second (baby) Accumulator will be started

Any use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited (and punishable by grizzly public execution, or the closest legal equivalent)

If not won on the night, the Accumulator rolls over to the next week (and then the next and the next etc.)

The Accumulator is put on hold during the summer months, when 20 points are played for instead of money

Quizmaster rulings are (of course) final!

Winners in 2010 / 2011

Chimney Sweeping Rocket Pigs, who took home €500 on 1st March 2011. They weren't the only team to try for the money (unlucky Trust Me, I'm a Journalist), so they got the money all to themselves!

Where Is My Mind? on 11.01.11- how nice to have some history on such a symetrical date! They won the €500 unopposed.

Winners in 2009/10

Beezleboss cracked the Accumulator on 29th June 10, with impressive kahones when you consider they were in a playoff situation. They took €451 and for the Accumuator was reduced to €0 for the first time in ages.

Hyper Hyper Heads had their first ever Blockbuster win in May 2010!

30th March 2010: a big win for the Green Monster!! They were the only team to go for it and (including three self confessed guesses) everything went their way!!

December (?) 2009: Evil Scotsmen & Where Is My Mind? shared the spoils of €500!

Winners 2008/09:

Frankie Fitz's Psycho Kids in March 2009 (they got themselves €500)

Braindust and Green Monster, in December 2008. These were actually separate wins on different nights, Braindust pocketing the full €500 and Green Monster taking €458.
