Summer Leagues

The Summer Leagues run from the end of July until the end of September each year and are the chance for regular teams to have a go at hosting a quiz for themselves. In this period, there are generally ten quiz-nights, which the quizmaster takes off (but often plays).
The main reason for this is easy - everyone (even the Quizmaster) needs a holiday. And also, everyone can have chance to sit on the throne and be Quizmaster (or Quizmistress) for an evening. As the final champions are determined by average and not total points (minimum five summer quizzes), we can all go away, relax and re-energise before the next Quiz season. Or quiz on as normal - your choice.
So, if you are interested in hosting a Summer League quiz, talk to the Quizmaster (use the email at the top of the page or send a message on Facebook). But do it early, as places are limited and teams sign up early...

Rule Changes
The Summer Leagues work a bit differently to the regular quiz as people go away on holiday or on home during the summer months. Each quiz is hosted by a different team from the regular season. The Summer Leagues are decided by points average over a minimum of five quizzes, rather than by points total - and all quizzes played by a team are included (not the best five).
The main rule changes are listed below:
- Quiz hosting teams can play that night, but not for money, nor for points.
- There is no Accumulator during the Summer Leagues.
- Blockbuster winners receive 20 points (see point above).
- Overall winners are determined by point average over a minimum of five quizzes.
- Music rounds may come at any time, not just the end of the month.
- Pot is divided between the top 3 teams: 50% / 30% / 20% (no Accumulator)
- As always, the quizmaster's decision is final (whoever that is).
- Any modifications to the rules will be posted here.
