The Playoffs
If you are looking at this page it probably means that July is just around the corner - and with it, the Pub Quiz goes into playoff mode.
And what does that mean?
For nine long, hard months you may have been slogging it out week for week to get yourself as high up the Quiz league table as possible and this is when it counts - in July the Top 24 teams from the entire season go head-to-head in a cut-throat three week battle to be named the Graz Pub Quiz Champions of the year. Teams are seeded, meaning that the higher placed they are at the end of the Regular Season, the better their chances of winning. Or, at least, theoretically that's what happens...
So this is what happens - the top seeded team (1) plays a head-to-head against the bottom seeded team (24) and the winner progresses to the semi-finals in Week 2. At the same time, the second placed team of the season plays against 23rd and so on. All of this happens while the Quiz takes place as normal for all the other teams. The chart below makes it easier to understand.
It makes no difference where a team comes on the night of the Quiz, just that they win their head-to-head and go through to the following week. A second set of head-to-heads take place in Week 2, while in the Grand Final in Week 3, the remaining 6 teams play in a mini-league and the winner is crowned as champions.
And remember - if your team didn't make the Top 24, it doesn't matter. Come along anyway - the Quiz runs as normal, with all the usual prizes. There's just an added layer of spice for the regular teams!
